About Stephen

Stephen Hatch has a  B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Colorado State University, and an M.A.R. from Iliff School of Theology, specializing in contemplative spirituality.  He teaches in the Religious Studies Department at Naropa University in Boulder.

Stephen was trained in the Centering Prayer tradition by Fr. Thomas Keating, a Trappist monk. He has taught for Contemplative Outreach, an organization founded by Keating and currently leads the Contemplative Fellowship of Fort Collins.  Stephen has been a student of the Enneagram for 25 years.

For
the past several decades Stephen has been living as a "worldly monk," integrating practices of silence, simplicity, solitude, and study into his work and family life. He lives with his family in Fort Collins and spends time every day in contemplation & reflection in the great wilderness of the Rocky Mountains and its foothills.

Stephen is the author of
